Update: We have upgraded this theme with theme options feature. Download will be available soon.
New Green Natural Living WordPress Theme is built for our New Green Premium Magento template, as a matching theme for store owner who wishes to have a WordPress’ blog with a coherent look and feel.
This is our first WordPress theme and we decided to release it under GPL. You are free to use this WordPress theme for personal or Commercial site.
If you love this theme, and love to reward us, any amount of donation you send our way is welcome.
Though we are new to joining WordPress mania, we are not new in web development and our first high quality WordPress theme shows competency of our web design and coding skill. Secondly, we are a true believer and practitioner of “something for something”, especially in the Open Source software community. We have incorporated Advanced Custom Field Widget, Twitter Widget Pro, Efficient Related Posts, Yoast Breadcrumbs and WP-PageNavi for our New Green Natural Living Theme, as such we intend to send some cash to the authors from above plugins, also buy us strong Organic fair trade Arabic Super Strong Coffee and green tea so that we can keep our mojo going to build more free WordPress themes, therefor we wish to collect some funds from you, the users.
We do not distribute the above mentioned plugins and widgets with this theme, you need to download them.
Special treatment for WordPress’ User
With WordPress only theme, header is a bit different where WordPress’ search box is placed on the top right instead of sidebar, and the horizontal menu populates from Pages.

What’s great about this theme?
It’s a clean design and we think it has great UI. It’s optimized for Search Engine using Semantic Markup, and it’s Section 508 and WCAG AA-compliant.
We built this theme with flexibility in mind because the original idea was to incorporate it with our New Green Premium Magento Theme, allowing Magento store owner who purchases our theme to have a coherent look throughout, and use the WordPress blog to further promote his/her products/services under ‘one brand’.
Quid Pro Quo: If you send a donation our way we will send you a detailed documentation which is included in the Magento-WordPress New Green Natural Living Magento Premium Theme purchased. The Magento theme comes with a custom-built WordPress RSS feed which will be very useful for your Magento-WordPress hybrid site.

Browsers Support:
- Firefox
- Safari
- Opera
- Google Chrome
- IE 8
- IE 7
- IE 6 (less than perfect support: that is, site is functional and layout does not break in this old and buggy never die browser. Note: no alpha PNG support )
Server requirement for this theme:
It’s pretty standard that web hosts now run PHP 5, but your server maybe still running PHP 4. Though we think this theme will work in PHP4 but we can’t guaranteed anything. Both Efficient Related Posts and Twitter Widget Pro require PHP 5, so before you install this theme, make sure that you are using PHP 5 so that you can use these two plugins.
Basic configurations for this theme
We have to assume that you know how to install WordPress software onto your server, and that you know how to install a WordPress theme as well as plugin/widget you download or purchase somewhere. That being said, we are going to cover only the essential parts concerning our theme.

Sticky Post for Homepage
The first post in the homepage under “Featured Article” is a sticky post
To assign a sticky post, simply select “Stick this post to the front page” at Publish > Visibility as shown in Fig 1
Fig.2 -
Custom Fields
Each post/page uses two Custom Fields, one is called “Image” (for content area) and the other “picture” (for sidebar large image).
Create “Image” and “picture” in one of your post under Custom Fields section to invoke them.
-
Sidebar Widgets
Everything you see on the right column is controlled by Sidebar Widgets. In this theme we use 5 sidebar widgets for more flexibility and in our demo site we displayed them in the following order. (Fig.3 illustrates how the sidebar widgets show up in the WP-Admin.)
Sidebar-top = Custom field for ‘picutre’ using ‘Adv.Custom Field’. Drag the Adv. Custom Field to Sidebar-top.- Sidebar-middle. We Use this for Categories and Links. Drag them from the left side of Available Widgets from your wp-admin.
- Sidebar-middle2. Currently is used for Twitter Widget Pro
- Sidebar-bottom. Reserved for widget(s) you wish to use.
- Sidebar-bottom2. Reserved for widget(s) you wish to use. We used it for a second set for ‘Adv.Custom Field’ to provide more flexibility as per post’s basic (works similar to the ‘picture’ custom field, and we entered two badges in the ‘Fixed Text 2 Always (optional):’ field.
-
3 Tabs
The 3 tabs for Recent Posts , Recent Comments and Tags Cloud are coded directly in the sidebar.php file – no action needed to enable the tabs except installing the Get Recent Comments plugin.
-
Sitemap and Archives pages in the Footer
At the footer you see Blog Sitemap and Blog Archives. To make Sitemap and Archives pages available for your visitors, you need to create two Pages from your WP-admin.
Create two new Pages, use ‘sitemap’ for sitemap’s permalink, and use ‘blog_archives’ for Archives page’s permalink, then choose their respective templates under “Attribute >Template” located on the right side in the Page area.

Configuration for Plugins and Widgets
WordPress’ plugin/widget installation is pretty straightforward, that is, download it, upload to ‘plugins’ folder, then go to wp-admin to activate it. If you are not familiar with how WordPress’ wp-admin interface works or if you are new to WordPress, it’s always good to read the documentation provided by plugin/widget’s author first before getting your hand’s dirty.
The PageNavi, Yoast Breadcrumb, Twitter Feed Pro and Related Posts are pretty much self-explanatory. Here we will focus on configurations for Get Recent Comments, ‘Adv.Custom Field’ and ‘Tabbed Widget’ (when it becomes available for v2.8).
You said: “OK! I have done reading this post. I want to Download New Green WordPress Theme now”.
And you said: “I really like this theme, I’d like to buy you a cup/a pack of coffee.”
And we say: “Thank you very much for your contribution! May good karma goes your way forever.”
Extra note:
We see this coming…after just half a day releasing this WordPress theme, we received a number of email asking “How can I use your theme?”, “Can you help install it”, “Can you guide me through the steps?”.
Short and firm answer is: “We can’t.” You questioned: “Isn’t this unhelpful? You give the theme away for free but you don’t help me set it up?” We replied:”Well, you go to farmer market buying organic vegetables and fruits, do you ask the farmer helps prepare your dinner simply because you bought from him/her?”
Alright we may. We may consider it if you hire us, but in all honesty we are not looking for this sort of work because we think our skill is better served in web development (well, yes, installing WordPress and WordPress theme is part of the web development but we are not looking for the position for “WordPress theme installer”)
That being said, there are plenty of WordPress tutorials within your reach with a click or two from Google search; also, anything you need to learn to use WordPress’ widgets/plugins and how to get your way around wp-admin can be found in WordPress Codex, or from the readme.txt provided by the widget/plugin’s author. Author of “WordPress 2 Visual Quickstart Guide”, Miraz Jordan recently launched a new site offering free and inexpensive The KnowIT WordPress series.
Nevertheless, we released this theme to the public, therefore we are fully aware we have to be helpful and help out, so we added a “Basic configurations for this theme” above to get you get started with proper setup.
